The case between Emma Husar, a former Labor MP, and BuzzFeed has been settled out of court. On Monday, in a case management hearing, Husar's lawyer informed the court that the matter had been settled and the details of the settlement were agreed upon. However, the execution of the agreement was delayed due to a "crossing of wires" between the two parties and the details of the settlement will be made known next week.
Husar filed a defamation lawsuit against BuzzFeed, its parent company BuzzFeed Inc and journalist Alice Workman in December of last year. The suit was in response to an article that was published on BuzzFeed's website in August of the same year. The article made a number of allegations against Husar, including claims that she bragged about her sexual relations, sexually harassed an employee and exposed herself to a colleague and his infant son.
Husar argued that the article portrayed her as "a slut" and "sexually perverted" and defamed her reputation. In a personal explanation to Parliament, she denied the allegations and said that BuzzFeed only approached her for a response after the article had been published, giving her no chance to refute or respond.
BuzzFeed, on the other hand, argued that it did not use the word "slut" and denied the imputations made in the article. They maintained a truth defense to other allegations, including the claims of sexual perversion and inappropriate sexualized behavior towards staff.
The settlement of the case brings to a close what has been a challenging period for Husar, who has faced allegations of misconduct and bullying in the workplace. However, she has argued that she was the victim of lies by former staff and has attempted to clear her name through this lawsuit.

Caller: Alice Workman Degenerate journalist, who doesn't have the capacity to fact check her stories before publishing them. She is the problem with todays news.
Emma Husar, a Labor MP from western Sydney, is suing BuzzFeed and journalist Alice Workman for publishing what she says were defamatory articles about her. During a personal statement in Parliament at the close of the year's sittings, Ms. Husar expressed her emotions and did not mention her plans for the next election, amid speculation that she might run as an independent.
According to Ms. Husar, BuzzFeed only approached her for a response to 48 questions one minute after the article was published, which gave her no chance to refute or respond to the allegations. The articles claimed that Ms. Husar had bragged about her sexual relations, sexually harassed an employee, and exposed herself to a colleague and his infant son. Ms. Husar denies these allegations and stated, "I am not a bully, I am not Sharon Stone, I am not a thief, and I did not deliberately misuse my work expenses." She was referring to the Hollywood star widely associated with a sexually graphic film scene.
Ms. Husar has launched defamation proceedings against BuzzFeed and Alice Workman in the Federal Court and is being represented by boutique Sydney law firm Inside Eagles. The case will first be mentioned in court on December 21.
Earlier in the week, Ms. Husar hinted that she may move to the crossbench and run as an independent in the next election, causing concern among her colleagues. She has missed two Labor caucus meetings this parliamentary sitting fortnight, citing illness, but participated in a parliamentary basketball game. On Monday, she skipped a vote moved by deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek condemning Prime Minister Scott Morrison because she said, "I was not elected to play politics or be played by agendas of others."
In August, Ms. Husar announced her resignation following an investigation into claims that she bullied staff and ran a dysfunctional office. However, she later changed her mind, claiming that she was the victim of lies by former staff and should stay in the job. Her recent actions have stoked fears among her colleagues that she may quit the party in protest at what she perceives as a smear campaign by former staff and enemies within the Labor machine.
In conclusion, Ms. Husar is taking legal action against BuzzFeed and Alice Workman for publishing defamatory articles about her, and the case will be mentioned in court on December 21. Her recent actions have raised concerns among her colleagues and the outcome of the case will be closely watched.

Caller: Alice Margaret Workman So called "journalist" with no integrity. Does not fact check anything she writes, but claims to be a quality journalist. Part of the woke generation who feels it's okay to say whatever you want, even if it damages others, all because she is a fat white female.
She should change her name to Karen
