Caller: unknown female in a call centre

Asian call centre. a really bad line and constant interruptions and dropouts throughout the call. The caller claims to be from eBay, informing me that somebody from Melbourne had bought a $US499 gift card for somebody in California on my account. Said this was a courtesy call as she thought it was unusual account activity and probably fraudulent and wanted to help me fix the problem. Then asked me to log into my eBay account so she could talk me through how to change my eBay and computer settings to prevent this happening again. Already highly dubious (because I know eBay don't call you unless you request them to), and also having difficulty understanding her with a mix of the poor connection, all the dropouts and the rolling R's of what sounded like a highly Americanised Philippine accent, I asked her to repeat the whole thing again from the beginning. She got really short with me and started to speak more animatedly. She repeated her earlier script verbatim, and when I asked what the purported amount was (as she cut out again), she told me I was rude (I was nothing but polite to her) and to shut up and do what she told me to otherwise I was going to be ripped off $299. The amount had changed, so I asked for clarity, was it $499 or $299? At this point she swore and hung up.
