Asian female. Unable to understand marketing. I have blocked the number

Phone rings, pick up receiver silence for about 5 seconds then Machine generated "Goodbye" Same "machine voice" as used by Centrelink???!

Indian woman phones, claiming to be phoning from a company "Compare" that can offer me 39% discount off my electricity bill. Very poor line, I quiz her about where she is phoning from, she claims she calls from NSW and wants my Origin electricity details. When I quiz her about what number I can call her back on, SHE ENDS THE CALL QUICKLY, practically hangs up

When that number rings, I say

I wake up with a fat :P

I have had a few calls from these guys. So obnoxious. If they even answer, they hang up in your ear at the first whiff of negativity from you.

Given the number isn't connected if you try to return the call, the grounds for complaint would be: "the phone number that the call came from did not display on your phone or was not suitable for return contact."

The number is some kind of scam don't pick the number, just block it

its a preset telemarketing number that is set to autodial mobile numbers to see if they get answered if they do you get added to the phone list of the telemarketing company as an active mobile number

Block this number. It's spam. I've had over 25 calls in the last few days from this number but every time I call back the number says it's disconnected...

You can make as many comments and waste your time here, BUT, WHO IS the department that should be looking into this fake annoying caller??? It shows as a disconnected number?? Surely there is a telco responsible for this. Someone better list a department who should be looking into this. The Ombudsman maybe??

Also claimed to be "Compare Energy" I said that there was no website for a company with that name, so when I quizzed further so I could make a complaint given my number was on "do not call" they just hung up.

Is there a way a trap can be set whereby you say you want to transfer your electricity/gas to a provider they end up choosing and then find out from the provider who initiated the change - then take them to town for unsolicited phone calls to a number on the do not call register?

It's a scam. If you answer, they either hang up or start a marketing call. If you ask where they're from, they hang up. They've also left a message claiming it's the Australian Tax Office. Scam, they're just after personal details for identify theft.

Wtf, I blocked this number and now my phone never rings I just get a message saying I have a missed call from them..how does this work when the number is blocked..?
