Female caller advised she was contacting me as she suspected fraudulent activity on my PayPal account for an Amazon order and asked if I wanted to cancel the order or go ahead and pay. If I wanted to cancel she would forward an ID number for me to confirm. I told her I didn’t have either account and suspected her call was a scam. She got quite defensive and said it wasn’t a scam and asked if I wanted proof….she then hung up! Sounded like a call centre with lots of people on calls in the background…scam headquarters!

Caller: Ebay

The initial caller was a woman. She said she was calling from eBay and that my details had been used for an eBay purchase that was going to California. I said I don't use eBay, so it can't be me. She said my device could be hacked and she wanted me to check my phone for an app called iptv or something like that. I said I have only a few apps on my phone. She asked what device I used and I told her. I asked her to cancel the order but she said she needed to check my IP address to see if that had been compromised. I said I would take my phone and device to the store and get them to factory reset. She said that wouldn't fix the problem. Sometime later, I was transferred to another person. We went through the whole conversation again. They wanted me to check my IP address, so they could cancel the fraudulent eBay order that had been placed with my details. I said no money has left my account. I said I would call my bank and place a hold on the account and prevent any transactions going through. Ebay said that wouldn't work because the money is already in a holding account. This all sounds very strange to me. I am going to the bank now and also the electronic shop to get my devices checked over.

Trying to get info about a 409 Dollar transaction with billing in California. Caution this one! Sounded like call centre in background.

Said he was from Amazon and I had a fraud transaction on my account

Called and left no message. Probably scam as I don’t know the number.

Asking me if I authorised a payment in the morning.
