Missed the call. They didn't bother to leave a msg, so I wasn't going to ring them back.

Number dropped out when I answered so I called back as I have clients in Melbourne (03). Recorded message said the number had been disconnected due to suspected or actual fraudulent activity!

Caller: Online Trading Company I asked how they got my number, to be told "from one of your friends." When I said that my number is on the government Do not Call Register, so any unsolicited call--however they obtained it-- is illegal, she proceeded to tell me that I must have given them my number. I never do that other than to organisations registered by ASIC.
They use a random number generator to call, and once you answer they know it's an active number. BLOCKED.

Got a call and the person started talking about needing to setup an alternate software. Didn't continue the call after hearing that part. Definite scam.

I've been hounded by the likes of these people for years now. I believe it's because I was once an Options and Futures trader. Blocking these numbers doesn't work because they simple use another number which your phone is unlikely to recognize. I've found the only successful way is using a White List. It blocks any number not listed. Of course the problem here is you must remember to regularly up date the list with those whom you want to receive calls from. Swings and roundabouts I guess.
