Just got a call from the same number, hung up as soon as i answered. I rang it back from a landline and got a voice message saying Selmat tried calling you about product.... I have no connection with Telstra!

Getting spammed at least three times by this number, twice this week in fact. Thanks everyone for submitting their stories. I immediately know that I can just ignore these spammers.

Company calling is an outsourced telemarketing mob in Melbourne. When you call them back you get a recorded message saying they were calling about Telstra products. If you are prepared to hold (after 3 calls to my mobile in 24 hours , each time they hung up when I answered) I was prepared to wait to give them a chance to explain themselves. When you get through to an operator they say thank you for calling Telstra , but on questioning they are actually a company called Salmat and are trying to sell Telstra products/services.While they are a legit business they are certainly engaging in some very questionable marketing methods.

Just got a call, got the ringtone then the telemarketer. As soon as they said it was a Telstra product I thought I'd stay on the line to toy with them because they offer such crappy plans.
Telemarketer: We're offering a new Sony Ericsson handset on a $20 plan with Telstra. Me: How much credit do I get each month? TM: You get $200 credit if you join today Me: But how much do I get each month after that? TM: You get $15 credit each month. Me: But I currently get $150 credit with Virgin. I also get free Virgin to Virgin text messages which is good because my wife is also with them. TM: We can give you 50 free text messages a month Telstra to Telstra. Me: I currently use over 400 per month with my friends on Virgin. I also get free Virgin to Virgin calls. TM: With Telstra you can choose an hour each day to make free calls. Me: But I can do that all day every day with Virgin. TM: *click*
