Asked me if I liked kittens

This is Australian National University looking for people to participate in research. I believe it is legit as I made some inquiries with them regarding Uni Courses.

They are scammers looking to harvest identity details

Seemed to be a scam. I answered and the caller said nothing and then hung up after a few seconds.

We are not telemarketers, we are not selling a product and we do not provide your name or contact information to any other parties. The phone numbers we dial are either:

Randomly generated by computer, using known telephone exchange prefixes
Randomly selected from available telephone directories, or
Provided to us by our clients.

Claiming to be from Social Research Centre working with Australian National University. They asked my age and the State I live in. Not sure if this is a scam or legit.
