People who claimed to be from any bank with an Indian accent will put me in an instant hanging up mode. In this case ANZ.

Caller: ANZ bank
Received a call supposedly from ANZ saying that there was a transaction that I had purchased 7 guns on my credit card. I laughed and said good luck with that. Its not a credit card and there is no money in that account, so the purchase would have failed. they then tried to ring back, made me think it was legitimate, also came up as ANZ on my phone. was about to ring the 13 number for the bank, and came on here instead and found i wasn't the only one.

Caller: A lady from the Philippines (Pinoi Land)
i received the same call from this number and claiming there was a suspicious activity on my ANZ credit card (which i don’t have a credit card with them) i knew it was a scam so I played along and asked the lady where did she call from because her accent is so hard to understand, and she said she is calling from Australia from “our headquarter” and asked me to check the phone number is listed in ANZ website. So I said if they are calling from the Philippines, she kept saying no she based in Australia but could not provide the state and the city, so I said here you go you are from the Philippines stop lying to me and stop scamming people, she just hung up Lol it was fun

Had the same thing happening to me today, lady with thick Indian accent called and said there has been some purchase made with my and credit card. (I don't bank with anz)
Lady: some purchase has been made using your credit card for a handgun
Me: yeah that's right I did
She went silent for a few seconds and ask what credit card I used
Me: don't you have that on the record since you are calling about it?
She went silent again and said she will refer me to the police
🤣🤣🤣

Caller: Claimed to be someone calling from ANZ
A lady with an Indian accent called me, saying she is from ANZ Bank, and there was a credit card registered under my name. The card was picked up in person overseas in Guangzhou.
The caller said there was suspicious activity on my Anz credit card; the record shows the person who has my credit card purchased some weapons online. I told her I don’t have a credit card, and have no idea what she is talking about, then hung up the phone. She consistently called back, about 7 times, and said it’s under my name, spending about $10,000, and I will be responsible for it.
After that she transferred me to his manager, claiming the same thing. I questioned him how do you prove you're from ANZ? He said I can visit their branch in Melbourne Centre, and he can provide me with the address, his name, and his employee number. But eventually he didn't tell me his name and employee number, instead, he started to say my address, phone number and email address. I didn't give him the information, so there must be personal information leakage and worth concerns.
Since I don't have any active accounts with ANZ, I hung up on his call. I called ANZ to double check my personal profile status and reported the issue to ANZ as well as their cyber security department. By the time I was waiting for ANZ, they had consistently called me back 16 times!

I had exactly the same experience! A lady just called me and said the same thing. I told her I was not an ANZ client, so why bother to call me? And I asked her what the purpose of the call was. She said something I didn't quite understand, and I told her since you have my email address, please send an email to me or I will call the bank back myself.

This is an Anz number showing on their website, however beware as now these scammers can imitate/fake the calling number. The caller said some suspicious activity on my Anz credit card. I told her I don’t have credit card, she went annoyed and said it’s impossible as you have an ANZ credit card showing on the system. I said I don’t believe you, she asked me to search her phone number it’s listed on Anz website. I told her it’s okay I will ring you back on Anz number. She then threatened me will have $9000 penalty. NEVER trust the calling number, any questions, you ring them back with their official customer number.
