Problem Solved. Went to their web-site and via the 'contact us' advised I would lodge an official complaint if these unwanted calls continued. A day (and two more calls) later, received this email:

Hi Ian.
Thank you for your email.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We have removed your contact number from our automated dialler. You will not receive any further calls from Red Energy on 03 9435 xxxx.

Like other comments, constant calls that just hang up. Rang this number back and got a recorded message, "Hi, you have been called by Red Energy...." at which stage I hung up. Caller identified! They are not my supplier and with these antics, never will be. Will now go to their web-site and see if I can leave a similar comment. Urge others to also do so.

Had a call from this number also. Waited about 2 seconds and then there was a female voice (youngish) saying "Hello". Our policy at home is, if no-one responds to your initial "hello" within 1 - 2 seconds, hangup as its more than likely a telemarketer or someone from over seas judging by the delay to your introduction. Even if it is a local number, they do relay through them to make it look local. Of course, if you hangup and its not a crank call, then Im sure they will phone back or call you on your mobile (if they have that number).

Funny the Red Energy were in my house on Monday telling us that if we switch to them we were going to received a 10% discount for 12 months. Now today Wednesday 16 of February 2011 I received two calls from Red Energy in 10:00 AM then again in 5:00 PM. What the Hell is wrong with Red Energy? Myself and the other Tennants we spoke face to face to a Representative that refused to leave our premises that we were not interested, so the Representative keep talking to us on the Footpath that if we Sign Up we were going to get not just 10% but 50% discount for 12 months after we refused to Sing Up for the 10% discount. .
There is no way that you can get 50% discount for 12 months so when told the Representative that if we do not Sign Up he will not get pay his Commission so he raised his voice that he did not want to waste anymore of his own time with us and left then he came back 20 seconds later to leave his phone number just in case we change our mind.
Red Energy are like those Muslims who will not let you Fart unless you convert to their god Allah. Red Energy just will not give up they are now calling me twice on the Phone when myself and the other tennants are not interested in joining their Religion call Red Energy. I want to hit Red Enegy with my Phone on their Head so that they stop calling me.

Fred,Got a couple of calls from this number a few minutes ago - does anyone know if the telco/s can do something about these calls? I am on the Do Not Call Register - and if I do get to speak to the mysterious caller/s - I will tell them precisely where to shove it.
