Caller: Ruth Wilson from Visa Fraud Department When I answered she said she was Ruth Wilson from the Visa Fraud Department and that there was activity on my account that looked fraudulent. I could tell it was a scam but I wanted to find out as much as I could to report it. She quoted her ID No. and gave me a Customer Reference No. for the call. She asked me if I had made any transactions at approximately 3:00am for $300 to Amazon for Shoes and $465 to eBay for a Projector. When I told her I hadn't she asked if I knew Mr Michael Malcolm from the USA as he was the person who had tried to make the purchases. She then wanted to confirm my identity and asked who I banked with and if I was correct she would put me through to the correct department so the transactions could be cancelled. I told her I wouldn't give her the information and I would call the bank myself, she then said the local branch wouldn't be able to help and that she would put me through to the head office. I waited to see what would happen thinking the call would be disconnected but it was put through to a line that played my bank tune and answered with my actual bank name. The gentleman told me his name was Shaun Williams and asked how he could help, I asked him where he was located as I know where my bank's head office is and he told me 242 Exhibition Street Melbourne. This is not where they are located, I told him I would call myself and hung up. I then called my REAL bank to report how detailed the scam was and check to make sure that no-one was trying to use my Visa. They put me through to a department to make a full report as this is the second one since yesterday. Please be careful, it was very real and very organised.

they called my wife and pretended to be from Telstra, telling that 3 people in Europe tried hacking our account. When I told the lady on the line that we are at TPG and that I am the husband the account hold she hung up. TPG confirmed me that this was a scam call

These calls where someone is trying to be fraudulent with Australian consumers are a pain in the whistle. Its about time that the government steps up and puts a stop to them
