The caller (from the subcontinent) claimed to be from ebay and claimed that my details had been compromised and that I had a $299 bill from Play Store. The caller wanted me to install an app named Team Viewer. When I declined to do that he ended the call.

The males who spoke to me were Indian. They told me they were from eBay.
They told me I had bought an iphone 7 yesterday for $399 ( thats a cheap phone I thought).
Anyway I decided to have some fun with them and see how far they could get with me.
They instructed me to turn on my computer, open chrome and search for an address something like www.ebay.aus.1.web and fill out a refund form.
I kept asking them what ebay store did I buy the iphone from and where the money was being refunded to. Normally I end the conversation by telling them I work for the Australian Federal Police and that this phonecall has been recorded and traced and that they are going to be arrested for fraud. It is at this point that they hang up.

The following numbers have been used to call me over the past few months.

Similar to others. A scam stating I have purchased an item for $299 on eBay. Please call back on the number to confirm if you made this purchase.

Someone called saying my eBay account had $299.99 deducted from it. I blocked my number and called back and they said the same amount even though they didn't know who I was. I asked what my eBay email was and they hung up on me.

Just received voice message stating they were from ebay and wanted to confirm transaction. Phoned the number an Indian guy said it was ebay and they were confirming I had placed an order for $299.00 for an Apple product. I told him not me. He then asked for my email address. He is going to send me the forms for a refund just in case the transaction went through and they would refund me the $299.00. I'm pretty sure they will clean my account out once they have my bank details. These guys are crooks.

This is a well used scam.
Indian hoax calling random Aussie numbers to get your bank details. DO NOT GIVE them any information. Either play along and waste their time, or hang up without giving even your real name.
