I was called by them trying to get in contact with a friend of mine, wouldn't disclose why and very pushy.

Had got my number from an address from years previous, very rude harassing me over someone else.

I have told them to cease or I will call the authorities.

This number keeps calling me and I dont answer numbers I dont know - I can only believe that it is a call centre of sorts not within aus as the number calls twice a day approximately at the same times. The DO NOT leave a recorded msg, if they were genuine then they would! DONT ANSWER THE CALL

They call but don't leave a message. When you call back the message says its Community Engagement. Market research/surveys.

Many of these use cancelled Telstra numbers that Telstra refuse to lock down.

Strange, Missed Call on my mobile but it did not ring? just a text to call 147 for information on this?

I personally enjoy a good political survey and have actually opted in with them. It's all automated however. There should be an automated agreement at the end of the call if you wish to opt out, if that helps. It does seem to be a legit political survey though, getting lots of calls around election time.
