Claimed to be from Telstra ringing about an issue with my internet. Typical pause and click of the connection at the beginning of the phone call, the accent, and the call-centre noise in the background. Scammer!

Caller: Telstra department ????

Stated that damaging information was being secretly downloaded on to my computer, gave me their name and id number ? Then started on the speed check trial trying to then get access to my computer. Even rattled off a modem number that they said was mine, but as you guessed it was a bogus number. Total scam. Had the same initial response with the pause and static line.

i let the answering machine get it and they hung up, so it could not be too important. i would suggest it is another cammer or timewaster.

Took a moment for anyone to come on the line, then we both said hello and waited, they hung up. Noisy background, mainly clacking and static, rather than voices.

Hung up when I enquired who it was!!
