Caller: Fake ATO SCAM

Warrant issued for my arrest for tax avoidance.

Pre-recorded voice message stating; there is a warrant out for my arrest, the issue is very time sensitive & asking me to press 1 or call back immediately. No mention of who the caller was in the message. I’m assuming it’s spam, as I haven’t done anything arrest worthy wrong!

FRAUD

I didn't take the call as it was an unknown number.

The voice message which was left was an automated message from a tax department (I didn't quite catch who / where). The nature of the message was urgent and implied I was in serious tax evasion trouble.

I called the number back and got what sounded like an Indian call centre. I asked immediately "who is this?!" "Who have I called?!", and they wouldn't answer me, I was told "just wait miss, just wait a while miss".

I yelled back, "no I won't wait, who is this?!". Still no answer. I yelled down the phone, fraud!! And hung up.
