I just had Kevin Harper call me as well (odd name for a person with a strong Indian accent), from the Telstra Technical Division. Asked for his # - (03) 9016 9029 & offered his ID # 789 032. Proceeded to tell me there were technical issues with my internet. Asked me how many flashing lights were on my modem (5); asked me what colour they were (green). Wanted me to go to the bottom left of my screen& find a pfl ??? (couldn't understand what he was saying. Told him I was working, that my employer doesn't pay me to chat on the phone and that my computer & internet was working just fine. I was more just stringing him along but it got tedious & I got bored & told him I'd phone him back. Then I checked here :)

First, automated msg saying your NBM in your area is ready.
then I was put through to 'Telstra technical department' , saying that we are downloading broken files which make us and Telstra damage.
He gave the same number (03) 9016 9029 to verify it is a genuine call as I was already felt suspicious.
I am glad to have searched and found this scam number here.
The guy had a distinct Indian(or surrounding countries) accent, fast speaker.
I am sure it is an organised crime.

Caller - 'Suzanne Wilson'
Same as other entries - was told that the caller is from Telstra and that there is a hacker on our system. Caller ('Suzanne') needs to take me through settings on my computer.
I asked for call back number - was given (03) 9016 9029.
Seems like a scam to me

Caller: 'Kevin Harper' from Telstra

Apparently I have internet problems which he was going to sort out after showing me where the trouble was. I asked for phone number and got an ID, then the major Telstra number. Wanted to plod on with using CR. I declined and hung up.

Claim to be a Telstra technician and there were hackers on my line. If I didn't fix it now my internet would be cut off for 30 days. Contacted Telstra and they told me that's not them, figured that already. Just double checking.

Caller: 'Kevin Harper' supposedly from Telstra

Had a call yesterday from someone claiming to be from Telstra re supposed problems with internet connection and my computer. Gave me his 'supposed ID no.' and told me to ring (03) 9016 9029 on my mobile while he hung on (he was on my landline) to verify he was from Telstra and he would 'work' me through problems on my computer. I hung up on him as I wanted to check out the phone no. before I rang. Before I could they rang me back at least 6 times which I didn't answer. I'm now reading your comments and as I thought this is another SCAM.

PS Also had similar calls over the last few weeks but as soon as they said they were from Telstra and something was wrong with my internet and computer I just told them I wasn't interested and hung up. This last time I listened to their whole speel and they gave me the (03) 9016 9029 to ring and 'verify' they were from Telstra. Pfffft. There are some real a...holes out there.

Exactly same message as above - they have now rung me twice. And I don't use Telstra!! I refused to go to my computer so he said that Telstra would have to stop my internet! He said he was located in Sydney when I asked where he was ringing from (with an 03 prefix!!!)

Caller: Claimed to be Telstra Technical Department

Claimed to be calling about problems I have reported to Telstra. As I have previously reported problems to Telstra (poor NBN) I thought it might just be genuine. It wasn't - which I realised when he asked me to go to my computer and perform certain keystrokes which were no doubt designed to give him access to my data. He was annoyingly persistent in trying to convince me of his authenticity when I said I did not believe him.

Caller: Said they are from Telstra

Going to show me errors on the line with my internet connection, Yer right, wanted to high jack my computer, I wouldn't do it and when I called them out that they were not actually Telstra he then swore at me and said he was coming around with a gun to kill me and anyone else there.
Why can't we stop these calls
Rang Telstra they can't do anything
Where is their 100 points of ID to get a phone number then you could trace and stop it in a flash, I don't get it?
