Just to start off, if there's such things... shouldn't the staffs who sell the computers/laptop offer this service when you're buying the computer or let you acknowledge of such things?
Just received a phone call from some guy with an indian accent from Microtech. His statement "mam you're computer is going to crash." Me, : well it always crashes, why don't I receive a call before?" Him:"Well your computer has a error report that was sent to us and your computer is going to crash" and if we don't help u...it'll crash... that's what the report saids. We have something installed and monitor your computer and it saids that you're computer is going to crash" Me: ok.. thank you for your call, i'll make sure to have it check out, Good bye."
He's pretty rude when I don't answer cuz i was talking to my parents about something else. He should feel lucky since I just woke up and in my *piss- off- the-rude- telemarketers* mood. Also, did anyone notice random loud noises in the back?? If you're listening Microtechnie dudes... the least u can do is have SiLENCE in the background!! sheesh.

Now this guy is calling in Canada. Same spiel and very agressive when you don't play along. He got his "Supervisor" on the phone to vouch for his legitimacy. Yea right. Just another guy with that same thick accent. Just like weeds: Very hard to get rid off. Microsoft will NEVER have some one call us to warn of imminent danger or for any other reason.

Pretty sure this is a scam.
1. They call and ask if you have a computer in the house, and if it has been running slowley. 2. They say they are Microsoft's support partner and have received error reports from your computer, which they can help you fix. 3. They then take you through a few steps to gain your trust, showing you things which are not actually problems 4. They discover that you are not covered by the warranty, and direct you to a webpage where you can purchase a support plan. That's as far as I got before the penny dropped so to speak.
Reasons why this is a scam: * The only personal details they had about me are available from the phone book (last name, first initial and address) * The domain microtechcare.com (where they direct you for payment) was first registered on 29-Jul-10 * The email address listed on the domain is a Gmail address * The positive comment above from 'nicola' has the date 2 March in it (despite being posted in August), which is before the domain was registered.
