Caller: Claiming to be ATO

Automated message claiming to be ATO, police warrant blah blah.......scam

I rang back and they answered immediately with "Australian Taxation Office" with a distinct accent.

Caller: Supposedly the ATO

I missed a call from this no. so, returned the call from a work landline - several times, as they kept hanging up on me. Every person who answered had an Indian accent, and so did all the people in the call centre in the background. I kept asking why I had a missed call from this number and they kept asking for my name and address, which I wouldn't give. I kept asking "How do I know this is really the ATO? Why is the ATO calling me when it's not tax time?"

The fact that they kept hanging up on me spoke volumes - definitely a SPAM call.

Don’t pick up Indian

Number has called several times over the past few days. Finally answered it and it was an automated message telling me that I had committed tax fraud and that the tax department had sent me paperwork. Because I had not responded there was a warrant for my arrest and I was going to have to pay back a lot of money. This is completely a scam. Your only option is to interact with the call by pressing a number which will probably send you to some dodgy call centre where you’ll be further scammed by someone who probably won’t speak very good English into potentially handing over your details.

Robo caller claiming that to be some sort of government agency (wouldn't say) and threatening legal repercussions including jail time. Robo caller also says that it was time sensitive matter and routes you to press 1 to take care of it immediately. Very suss!
