having just received the 7th ring from this number, I reviewed the online comments when I got home.
I read the helpful Jennifer Post, thank you, as i now have noted down your list of the other numbers (so far) to also ignore...

Lodge it as an unwelcome call with your phone company. They will tell you what is required. Once they have 3 or more traced to the same number a letter will be sent to the provider of THAT number. They then have to warn their customer. If it keeps happening, the number can actually be disconnected. I used to work Telco, and we would actually block the outbound calls from that particular number if it had been reported and escalated (especially if it was a 100 indial range). And most of these are.

Number called me as well, and when questioned about their affiliations they said 'ok, thank you goodbye' and hung up.

Scam for sure.

have received 6 calls from this number in last few days - when I answer, they hang up. Could be I answer with the charity's name I work for - it must confuse them. After having read all these comments will be blocking them now.

http://www.onedial.com.au/index.php

they have there own register that you have to asked to be put on and allow 30 days to be removed from the call ques.
Don't think they will call me again. disproved the claim. I actually turned the conversation around and used it as a recruitment drive. Made her want to quit her job and join the army by the time I finished.

Just called Telstra to block this number, and confirmed that they've been receiving similar complaints re Telebyte Australia using their name, and would be more than happy to block the number.

With thousands of complaints about this and other numbers (most always are in the range 03 86XXXXX or 03 837XXXXXX) , it is amazing that Telstra does not block or close down these at source. They have only to look at complaint sites like this one (google search) and they would know exactly the full list of these pest calling numbers.

But Telstra seems content to sit on its hands. I'm told that Telstra (and other telco companies) make so much money from all these calls that they are totally unwilling to "kill the goose that lays the golden egg."

The 'do not call' reporting site run by the government seems impotent when it comes to acting on these pest numbers, other than to auto- record the complaint.

The calls started when I connected my landline with a new telephone number so I could have a Telstra bundle with wifi. A man with what sounded like an indian accent saying something about Telstra is not the only ... I cut him off and said that I was not interested and hung up. So from about 31 July I received the first phone call then I stopped answering the phone that kept ringing which was very annoying. You should not have to not answer your phone! On 23/9/15 I received 4 calls and on 24/9/15 received 6 calls. I lost the plot and answered the last one and had a woman on the other end of the phone and I told her I was not interested in any thing and stop calling as it is harassment. The calls stopped until again last night at 8.11pm they called and then today at 11.50am where I said that if they do not stop I will call the police due to harassment. This has been going on for 4 months. What I cannot understand is why do they keep ringing as they get nothing from me but abuse. Why can we not stop these people

We have only recently had the landline put on..within two hours of it being operational, we started getting calls from this number. We had 7 in less than an hour on one day. Yesterday they range and when asked what they wanted, they became extremely aggressive and rude..unbelievably so..some words I couldn't mention..I threatened them with police to no avail, I threatened with Do Not call, and nothing made a difference..he just became more and more aggressive. My husband got on the phone and gave him a lesson in civility and he hung up. lol. They rang again today, and claiming to be from telebytes...after learning from my husband..they hung up on me ha ha...then rang the Telstra number given here and have had them blocked

From reading a few comments on here. I am not the calling only person being annoyed from these people so far I have blocked 4 different numbers on my phone and they appear to just change their number and ring again. from the (03) 8644 8291 I have 5 missed calls from in the last 24hrs starting 10am in the morning up to 8pm at night. How we stop them from doing this? Isn't there a law against it.
