Caller: Scam? Energy comparison company I politely declined the ladies offer to take my information to provide me with price comparisons on energy providers. She would not accept my ‘No thank-you’. I explained that I had politely declined her offer and the lady switched from a warm, energetic, salesperson approach to having a tone akin to a bank robber.

Answered, silence for about a minute before I can hear what appears to be a call centre. Hung up as i believe it is a scam call as they called at 630pm.

Caller: Energy comparison company Wanted to know my address and current Energy provider and bill amounts. Kept saying he wasn't trying to sell me anything and just wanted my details to tell me better details on my energy bill. I hung up mid call and he called me back immediately 3 times in a row.

What concerns me is that the caller knows my name, claims not to know my current electricity retailer. I asked him how he knew my number and name (neither of which is advertised anywhere and known only to friends, relatives, ATO, telecommunications provider, social insecurity department and my current energy provider), he said he was not obliged to tell me and terminated the call. They are called "Dealtime" but don't have any corporate records. That is a concern to me and should be to everyone, and I think the problem is related to the fact that energy retailers either own or fund these energy comparison companies like iselect (and more than one retailer 'owns' them), so none of the calls we receive are selected at random. IT IS A SCAM
