Caller with an American accent asked for a staff member by name. I asked what the call was concerning. Caller said he was from a SMS Messaging Service and would like to put forward their business platform to assist our company. Told him the person he had asked for was not involved in that side of the business, he asked for the name of the person who was incharge and I gave him a generic email address to direct his information. Thank you to the other contributors on Reverse Australia for their input. Don’t answer it! We just got a call from this number, they claimed to be from Burst SMS.
They asked for someone that doesn't work here. Reception took the number and reported it to me (IT department).
We keep getting calls from this number too - they call late in the evening and early morning. So glad I checked this page out. Phoned our office claiming to be from 'the SMS messaging service' so they make it sound like we have an account with them. Wanted to speak to the wrong person, had googled the sales manager name, not marketing or business manager. Laughed at me when i refused to tell them my role within business. We don't have an account with them and they are very pushy. Caller claimed to be from a SMS messaging service and wanted to speak to marketing manager of the business. they have called me 4 times to sell me energy light saving and every time i told them im not interested and remove me from their database and its against the law to spam call me.
the overseas agent told me, "your australian law doesnt apply to here" and laughed at me. so they never removed my number and they still spam call me.
I want to find out which Australian company is using this service because surely they have to comply with the do not call register?
Don't pick up the phone. Claiming to be doing LED lights under Vic gov scheme. Always suss these days. Whenever I hear the first thing is a second delay, I know it's reconnecting to an o/s call centre. I have hung up and blocked and now come here to find it was all spam as suspected. Took your advice and didn't answer it! I never my phone anymore. If a caller is legitimate than they will leave a message. If I know them I will make a call back. Isn't it a pity that my friends have to wait till I call them. Thank goodness for email. I much prefer email. Every email I do not recognise is marked immediately as SPAM. It is how I survive these days. What a terrible world we live in where others think it is okay to harass their way into our personal lives. Caller: Lighting company
