If you don't say anything, after about 5 seconds the call disconnects.

If it's someone you know they will usually start talking if there is a pause after the phone is answered.

If it doesn't disconnect I hang up then block the number

Called me asking if they could speak to so & so, I said speaking, they then proceeded to tell me that my name was up for winning a coles grocery voucher. I said I was on the do not call register, she said it would’ve been a few months ago so I wouldn’t remember. I hung up.

Said something about winning $1,000 dollars of groceries. Just sounded like a scam, so I hung up.

Scammer. Asked for my wife by name. I said I would get her and left phone on open while i dialed number on my mobile. Got number you are calling is not listed. Interesting.
I returned to phone where my caller should have been waiting and they had hung up.

I do the right thing and answer my telephone with my name, then they just hang up. It would be good if there was a way the carriers (Telstra, Optus, Vodaphone etc...) could remove these people from their customer list if enough people (say, 20) start complaining. I suppose they would be more interested in the money they get from them though, rather than helping their real customers.

Keeps calling and I just reject the calls. Do not call list doesn't seem to make any difference.

I do not answer mobile calls from unidentified numbers so I always check Reverse Phone Lookup.
