This phone number has called my mobile many times in the last week however when I call back it says number has been disconnected

I had this number cal my mobile on multiple occasions and I was never able to answer. When I finally did there was absolutely nothing on the other end of the line. Who does this number belong too and why are they contacting me???

Missed a call from this number and when I called back says the number has been disconnected and to check the number and try again.

Multiple calls received on mobile over the last week. Big gap before someone speaks.
Did really give them much of a chance to speak but was an Indian accent. I said I was not interested and not to call me again. I have now blocked this number.
