Scammer. Also calls on (03) 7044 7342 and series of similar numbers with just the last 2 digits changing. Probably calls 6-10 times a week, each time with a different scam or just hangs up on me.

Missed call. A trick I found that works multiple times, is to have a compassionate talk to them about that You know it's a scam. Ask them why they feel ok doing this, keep persisting that you know, and understand they are not the ones incharge.

They eventually will explain to you something like threats to family, there is no other work available to them due to their education/disability/situation and need to support their family. A lot, if not most, feel really ashamed and bad for they are forced to do. But if you give them a human compassionate response and understanding you can change their lives.

I have had three quit their jobs, another do it on the spot who didn't hang up so could hear it. Two of them broke down in tears during the conversation.

They aren't evil and are also just people born into unfortunate circumstances.

Taking that approach betters them, betters us. Not doing it potentialky passes the buck onto a not so savvy person who will get scammed. You are perpetrating the problem if you don't at least try.

Scam. Claimed to be visa and Mastercard services. Said I had unauthorised overseas charges and wanted me to open my bank app. When got very hostile, kept telling me if I don’t open the app on my phone and check I would have to pay the amount and then hung up.

Same number as a call yesterday except last digit different. Left no message. I don’t return calls to unknown numbers unless a message is left and then only if it makes sense and is something expected.

Got a recorded message--my account will be debited $99.99 for my Amazon prime service. Has to be a scam as I've never had Amazon prime
