5.11pm 4/5/21 - Victoria - sounded like call centre. No message left.

Caller: Claimed to be from ABS.

Wanted me to answer 5 quick yes/no questions that I declined to answer.

Called but left no message

rang me and knew my name, then hung up as soon as I confirmed my name. Rang back, no answer. Definitey a scam

Definitely scam. Left a voice message that $299 debited from account press 1 to cancel the transaction or call back for more details. Thanks to Android's spam filter for blocking these oxygen thieves.

Left a very short voicemail that sounded like they didn't know they were connected. Could hear muffled sounds, probably a call centre.

I'm quite sure the ABS doesn't work this way. It must be some kind of number collection company.

rang the number back message says it is not in service

Said they were from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and started asking questions. Call got cut off after 20 seconds. Sounds suss.
