Just a quick message to bring to your attention a glaring innacuracy and lack of attention to factual information that was published in the Gippsland History section of your 19th of July, 2012 edition. The article entitled 'Gembrook-an attractive little town', authored by John Wells, contained paragraphs pertaining to the Puffing Billy narrow guage railway and stated that 'there was now an active plan to re-open the line to Gembrook again, through Wright and Cockatoo.' It went on to explain how 'the original earthworks are still in good condition' and concluded by telling us 'how enormously leasing it would be to see the trains come once more to Gembrook, as they did in 1953.' Whilst I applaude the authors sentiment it is a well documented fact that the railway line to Gembrook re-opened in 1998 and has continued to operate to this day. A simle check of the Puffing Billy website or timetable would have easily provided that information...
