Caller: “Ato crime investigation department” Called claiming I had criminal activity linked to my tax return, to press ‘1’ to talk to operator. Very noisy and broken phone line, a person explained that I was speaking to the crime investigation department regarding criminal activity on my tax return, therefore my tax return and tfn was being put on hold. I called the ato, it is a scam.
