I missed the call and when I called back it said the number is not connected

when are these arseholes going to be dealt with by the appropriate people responsible telecommunication body ???????????? getting sick of these calls to the fact that I'm going to get my home phone disconnected

Yes this number also called me several times and when I called back I find it is disconnected. I want to know is how can a disconnected number register as a missed call on your phone? These scammers must be part of the telephone network. This must be dealt with!

These 'black nations', or at least the companies that want to scam us actually rent local phone numbers from Australian companies. The numbers are fake, but the companies are real. So, how will shutting the gates help? Better solution would be to prosecute the local companies here. Perhaps also you could try calling local, state and federal politicians at inconvenient times in the day and night and ask them to help.Or demand they help and offer to call them twice a day to see if they have thought of a solution. When we received the call they said they are from DO NOT Call Register.......as I went along with them it got up to verifying my bank details hahaha I told them we are not stupid here in Australia and hung up

Michelle and Nick from "Utility Deals" called me several times offering to find better deals and to switch my account. When I told "Nick" (yes, funny name for an Indian) I would only deal directly with the retailer he was no longer interested in telling me where I could find those better deals. DON'T LET THEM WASTE YOUR TIME.
By the way, I too rang - yes, disconnected number from Lakes Entrance.

I don't ring back numbers I don't recognise but it bothers me. I've been racking my brain trying to work out who I know in Bairnsdale/Lakes. Thanks for all the comments as I know now they are definitely scammers. I too wish that ALL of these calls could be banned and including the ones from charities

Male from a company in Australia called and said he missed a call from my number. I said it wasn't my number as I hadn't called and he said my number had been a missed call on his phone. After reading the other posts this is very strange. The caller didn't have a foreign accent.

Why do the Australian companies allow such rubbish to call us.... Isn't it time the Australian companies took over. I'm so sick of these indians or wherever they come from, but it's usually the black nations.... where once I thought they were really nice, as some are, there are too many bad ones for us to accept anymore. Who wants the devil ion their door step, or satan in their hall. Time to shut our gates too. Grrrrrr!!

Shaun from Smartsave offering to compare my energy rates. I told the liar did not wish to discuss any of my personal details. Hung up, rang the number, "unfortunately Optus (my provider) advises the number has been disconnected".

A caller called "William" with an Indian accent called and said he represented Smartsave. Yeah right.. Hung up and he didn't call back.
