What people need to know is that all these calls are aided and abetted by telstra ! They have an endless bank of numbers that these people are given access to, so they just have to make the call then telstra under their agreement just allocates one of this number bank to that call and another call will have another number bank number allocated to it , this is why if you do happen to call back the connection just cuts out because you are calling a non existent number ; and telstra should be ashamed of themselves for that " Profit Over Privacy! " shame on you Telstra! The only other hang up calls you will get "are" actual numbers their the ones that let it ring just once or twice then end the call, the idea behind this is to get you to call them wondering what they wanted and by doing so you have just given them two things they can now overcome the " Do Not Call Register " as you have now phoned them and they are just returning your call ( perfectly legal ) and secondly you have just let them know that yours is an active number so they can now sell it off to a mailing list along with any details about you they have .
SO if you don't know the number and they don't leave messages "BLOCK" the lot of them and tell everyone you know to do the same.
Legitimate callers will generally always leave some form of message for you.
And to finish my rant!
Shamefully enough most of these calls come from the one company that collects for most of the well known charities and for every $1 you donate only about 3 cents to a maximum of 8 cents from that $1 goes to that actual charity the rest goes into the pockets of these annoying " Thieves "

Simple solution - Don't answer!

Something to do with utilities - very pushy, especially when I wanted to end the call. Was offering to compare electricity supplier costs for me but wanted my address, was not happy when I tried to end the call but couldn't tell me why he was so keen to help me, couldn't understand why I wanted to go even when I explained the call was unsolicited and I didn't know him and couldn't understand why he would want to 'help' me for free. Don't normally answer numbers I don't recognise, good policy!

Keeps calling at 2.30 am in the morning, is blocked but rings once, has to be from overseas for ringing at that time. Just leave us alone 😡😡😡

When answered there is no one there holding the phone, ready to talk, but they activate react to your answering the call and try to respond. By then I know it is a random caller. I hang up. If I do no answer the call, no message is left.

Bloody annoying! Getting calls from different numbers every day which hang up when I answer!!! Why bother calling?

Caller left a message that they will come to take my assets due to criminal activities and it is very urgent and I need to press 1 before they proceed to come to my house. What a joke I blocked this phone number right away.

Caller: 'Telstra'

Recorded message from 'Telstra' saying our service was about to be cut off and if we wished to remain connected, press 1 etc. Since we haven't been with Telstra for a decade, I remained unmoved by the threat!

They keep changing numbers. Blocking does not help. They did call me at least 20 times from different numbers in the last few months. And where did they they get my number from? When I asked them this question, the answer was: "It's on my computer screen". Priceless!

Overseas telemarketing call centre trying to get information about my electricity provider.
They tried to get me to switch. Told them I'm not interested and hung up.

Disgraceful. They are calling me at 12.26am and we all know that a call in the middle of the night usually means bad news so I find this very unnerving!

Even tho they r blocked I still get the notification that I have a missed call. It’s annoying but at least I don’t hear the phone ring so don’t have to see who’s ringing till I’m ready to look it up on reverse.....these are sycophants...blood suckers...and I certainly wouldn’t change electricity or anything because they’ve rung me....lol

A company claiming to do energy comparison for you. They keep on calling me even after I told them to remove my details as I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTER.

I finally blocked the number, but they use a whole range of numbers to call from.

They could be voice recording... don’t say anything

They are selling Internet and communications plans. They have called me about five times now and I don’t answer the phone because I don’t know the number. I call back in the answering service says that they are closed and Sell the above plans. Just block them

sick of these numbers that call and don't answer, and I do no call back. I treat them as spam calls, trying to get you to call back so they have you on their radar.

Don't call the number and maybe don't answer the number if you don't know who it is.
