Caller: Potential scam claims to be from Australian Bureau of Statistics Strange unsolicited call. Claimed to be from ABS, knew my first name but called me Miss <first name> that’s not how Government employees address the public. Told me it wasn’t a scam call - red flag number 2! Said this was just a quick 5 minute survey, so I asked for the survey reference number. Caller immediately hung up… I called the official ABS office they checked to see if I was listed for a survey - nope! Definitely a scam
