These people keep calling my autistic son's mobile after money... He has never had a bill or purchased anything from anywhere on credit his entire life so doesn't owe anyone any money. Downloaded an app called truecaller, it blocks the phone calls and the texts from all of their reported phone numbers, hopefully, this works... If not I will be getting legal advice... They don't even know his name and we are not giving it

They keep calling my partner chasing $180.00 for a phone bill he wasn't even at the address at the time to make. They can't supply a copy of the Bill or get the story straight, one minute it is Telstra Debt the next minute it is Origin Energy Debt (which does not even operate in the Perth Metro Area) none of them are very fluent in English. This does appear to be a scam constantly asking for DOB, Home Address (which they have already posted the call us about an important matter letter to) they have even asked if he receives any Government Benefits and once asked for his Medicare Number all this tells me Identity Theft

Continually Called

Has been going on for months now - after a few slinging matches as I didn't want to give out private information to some random on the phone; we have met a deadlock. I state identity theft issues; they state they can give me a number and reference.
Funny thing is - I have no debts!

Anyone, that has my mobile, also has either or, my home telephone, address, postal address and mobile. I have been receiving these calls for over 12 months and now very rarely turn my mobile on, as it is only ever on my mobile.
I do not owe anyone any money and am fed up, they should be in gaol. I only wish, that someone tries it on them or their loved ones.

They ring my business every few days giving me a reference number to call them and sometimes on both lines at the same time, asking for me to call back as it is a personal business matter. I keep telling them I am not interested in whatever they have to say and to take me off their list of people to call. They are honestly driving my staff and myself crazy.

Yeah my story the same as a couple of other poor people.
Apparently we have a $2500 Origin Energy Gas bill from 2008 for natural gas at our house, but funnily we built the house in 2005 and our town didn't and still doesn't have natural gas!! We never received a bill for gas ever but we do have power with Origin Energy and never missed or made a late payment in 11 years. We never had any calls or letters regarding this gas bill, but setting up a new business 4 years ago a default showed up from Origin for $2500 unpaid from 2008. Thats a lot of gas to use at roughly $60 a quarter without getting a bill or a call. so i called them and they were supposed to sort it out but i never heard back. Called them again 3months later only to be told that the debt has been sold off to a collection agency and the matter closed in their books along with the figmented account. So with no invoices/letters/notices or any contact made for the gas bill ever they defaulted me and unfortunately i have no paperwork to fight with!!! Mind you we still have power with them, for now.
12 months on and now Baycorp are having a crack at getting $2500 plus $600 costs. The same as all the other stories obove, calls, threatening letters well bring it on lol

Have a ball abusing them ... they asked for it .... so I told them to phuck off in every foreign language .....
Meantime, good to see my taxes and shares directed towards assisting filipino unemployment overseas .....
Maybe Australia should allow its own unemployed to work there as Telstra call centre operators .... all those bitches and beaches to explore , on the cheap too. Nice work if anyone can get it.
Baycorp ,,, what a bastard of a company to be working for ....

I missed call on my mobile, and it left a contact number with the name BayCorp. So I rang it, they gave me no info about anything, but asked my husbands birthdate, I stupidly gave it to them, then they asked for his Tax file number. but couldn't find it, so they want our accountant to call them tomorrow. No sure if he will. Or why. They told me 'nothing'. I'm happy I couldn't find the tax file no: they wanted. Thank God..... I don't believe we owe any money anywhere, so I rang back the number they gave me, and gave them a piece of my anger, they hung up on me, I'm checking with the Tax dept tomorrow. I suppose it was the 'debt collectors' No reason for it, I'm clear.

Stupid Me

They rang me on my mobile & left a number to call, and asked me my husbands dob & our address which I stupidly gave them. They said it was a taxation matter, but would not tell me a thing. I pay all the bills, and am sure we owe 'nothing' to anyone. It's a real problem with scammers. We do get a home phone call daily, from a private no. but when we try to take the call, it's gone. I'm the Bill payer in our house, not him, why call me and not tell me what it's about. I wish I'd read all these posts before I gave them any info. Now they want me to have our tax agent call them. If we owe something, we should be told, not put into the bill collectors, as far as I know, we are clear, as I pay everything as it comes. They'd better not call here again, the Police will be informed. Hopefully it will stop. Why do we have such creeps in our world? This is definitely a prank, scam or just plain trouble makers antics playtime.

It's an identity theft racket working out of The Philippines. Just hang up. They're very persistent. I get 3 to 4 calls a week. They've been calling for about a month. I've received letters too.

Almost correct, but a couple things should be clarified.....

1. An account reaches its' statute limitations or is STATUTE BARRED 6 years after the latest acknowledgement of the debt i.e. last payment made.
e.g. if you have an old Telstra account that was disconnected in December of 2009 but you continued paying it until August 2010, the account will not reach its' statute limitations until August 2016 providing no other payment is made before then.

2. If legal action is pursued and a judgment is placed on the account, you are in for a longer haul.
3. Yes you are correct, if an account is statute barred, it cannot legally be pursued. However, I would suggest you get the facts regarding the last payment made towards the account rather than assuming you know the date the account is due to go statute barred.

Baycorp are insisting aTelstra account be paid. The account is in a similar name, but not my name, and I haven't dealt with Telstra since 2008. Even Telstra agree that no money is outstanding.
The unpaid account was in 2011 and they (Baycorp) persistent.
Good luck to them

Hi I need to advise the people on here if a debt is over 6 years old by law they are not allowed to intimidate you or harass you into paying it as it becomes statute barred . I have done a lot of research of this matter lately as I have been harassed by them leaving me messages on my voicemail from a private number ?? anyway if they continue with it they will have the ombudsman to deal with and yes can sue them for it . As the law states that statute barred debts are not allowed to be pursued .

I have also started getting a call from this number this week. When I answered it, it sounds as tho it is dialing elsewhere. No one answers.
I call back the number they have called from and they just say that is bay corp ring back in trading hours. I called ATO to make sure I have no outstanding debt and they said I am clear. There is no other way I can have debt besides my mobile and that is also checked and clear.
I get a call daily at around 6.30 -7pm.

They prank me because I won't speak to them or I'm rude so to meet there quota of debt collection calls they prank me. The debt they are chasing was sold to them by Optus however it's been disputed with the telecommunications ombudsman I've repeatedly told them its not going to be paid as Optus refused to provide proof of charges. What can we do about these guys?? Is it harassment
