Check to see if these people are registered engineers. Ie ask for a copy of their engineers registration as they appear to be working as engines but not registered as such which is illegal to do so . Doctors, teachers, nurses, lawyers have to be registered to work in Australia and so do engineers. All sounds dodgy to me.
