We ordered a large dining table and eight upholstered chairs from George. They were not stock and had to be custom made. I think the delivery time was scheduled under three weeks.
They were beautifully made, delivered on time, look beautiful and we are very happy.
Our experience dealing with George was excellent and entertaining and we would recommend him to anybody.

We placed a complicated order of integrated bookcases and a buffet/hutch with George. A brilliant result delivered before time, and expertly finished. Earlier this year, George built us a truly lovely dining table and eight chairs. We highly recommend George's services. Two jobs completed for my family, competitively priced, delivered on or before time- very happy customers. Hard to reconcile some of these other customers' comments.

I'd agree with most of the above. We were promised a custom-made entertainment in 2 weeks - it took 8 weeks. George is hopelessly disorganised and his claims to use "Tas Oak" really only extend to the tops and door fronts. The rest is MDF. He cut the holes in the back in the wrong place and fixed it by ripping off the 3-ply (it had been glues and mailed), reversing it and screwing it back without even removing the residual nails and remaining ply. After spending 6 hours cleaning it up myself, we are now happy with it. We got a quote from Canaliside Interiors for $500 more - I wish I had taken it.

He is still as unreliable as ever. Stay away.

He even passes off dining tables as Blackbutt, but they are Tasmanian Oak with a stain.

George FACTORY direct?! absolutely a joke! i ordered a TV unit September 2012 from him, he asked me to get other shop quote and showed him.he did cut the Price off, but IT took 2 months to finish .and the board is made from MDF...why i paid that UNcheap money for MDF furniture..and. he promised me using timber to make IT. too much lie..Strongly UNsuggest..

George did great job to our furniture!!!!! my husband and I had spend a lots time in finding custom made furniture in Sydney. Finally a friend recommended natural timber fine furniture to me, he's been their old customer 6 years. I bought a wall unit and a dining table and 8 chairs. they were arrived on time and quality is good. I also asked George about some review I saw there. He told me yes he sometimes got bad reviews when he really couldn't make everything on time and he also offered the refund, but they didn't want refund, because they know this is best price they could got in the Sydney. Custom made furniture business do has different issues with customers, but the overall service is great. say, I am really happy with my purchase, so I guess customer and business owner both need patience and good communication. George also showed me some of his past records, so many closed orders! I believe if he's been doing this business 17 years there might be unhappy customers with whatsoever reasons but over all he is proving nice and good quality timber furniture to all the people! Myself will definitely back for more.
Maybe a bookcase next time :)

Perhaps you should have thought about the retailer you bought the products from. this is why you use recognised furniture retailers to buy from. Not a backyard cowboy retailers. Good stuff ain't cheap and cheap stuff ain't good!

A big BUYER BEWARE!

My experience with George is exactly as described by the July 23, 2012 post except my final delivery took 12 months, and only after threatening OFT.

I also contacted my bank about returning my deposit (paid for by credit card) but unfortunately there is a 3 month time limit.

George also invited himself into our home on one occassion. I found him in the dining room after I came downstairs after hearing a noise. Guess I need to lock the front door from now on.

We strongly advise anyone contemplating using this custom furniture retailer to WALK AWAY NOW – it will be the best thing you ever do. George will undercut his competitors to get your business but takes far too much work on. We ordered a custom built coffee table, TV stand, 2 bedside tables and a wall unit in late January 2012 and George promised delivery just a few weeks later on February 23. Over the following months I experienced pure frustration as I dealt with George over fifty times. After sketching the measurements of our wall unit – he lost them so I had to send him a copy. Then he didn’t write the correct colour down so we had to go back to his store to confirm it with him. Then trying to get him to actually commit to a delivery date proved almost impossible. There was always an excuse about why the delivery would be delayed and had it pushed back, back and back, When he did commit, we were constantly lied to as we would make plans to stay in every night he said he would deliver and then not even show up or phone to say it wouldn’t be happening – we would have to chase him! There was an excuse for everything eg. My worker’s mother died and had to go back to China, the paint is still drying, it’s Anzac Day, it’s Mother’s Day and the level of customer service was beyond unacceptable eg when a draw went missing during the delivery I was accused of hiding it! In my own home! Phone calls were never returned and text messages were claimed to never have been received. It was only that we really needed what we ordered (as we couldn’t find anything suitable elsewhere) and doubted others could do it for us that we hung on in the hope we would deliver his part of the bargain. The coffee table, TV stand and bedside tables were finally delivered months after the agreed delivery date but the coffee table still wasn’t finished. The wall unit arrived months after that again but wasn’t finished either! We had to get George to come back to finish the job, however this only happened when we threatened reporting him to the OFT. Five months after we paid our deposit the job was finally done but we have never been happier seeing the back of someone. We will be reporting him to the OFT anyway for the sheer agony we have been through over the last few months. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs!

George the owner is extremely rude man who seems to think he can con everyone who comes into his shop.
I paid a deposit for furniture and after a month of lies and threats from him I threatened to go to Fair Trading, he then returned my money. What a bad mannered, rude man he gives the honest asians a bad name, I heard later he owns a brothel operating upstairs. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.
