Not a scam. They call when your paypal account has a negative balance.

People on the line claimed to be PayPal, and they were correct about the overdraw, but this number doesn't appear anywhere but Reverse Call websites like this one.

They were also asking for my debit card to pay over the phone, which caused me to hang up immediately. Do not give your debit card over the phone.

This makes me suspect that a scamming organisation might have a direct line into PayPal, and might use this to get debit card numbers off unsuspecting people.

I agree, I think scammers have gotten into PayPal deep somehow, as I have an email that looks to be from them stating I have a negative balance I need to pay, and am now receiving these calls from them too. Checked my PayPal and it definitely does not have a negative balance. Kinda scary how they've managed this; many people will be duped.

Absolute scammers. Very clever fraud system. Annoying that you can't seem to get rid of them. Surely someone can track these fraudsters

It is a scam. I confirmed with Paypal that this is not their number. They advised not to provide any information. Use the Paypal website if you think you have a problem.

This is 100% a PayPal scam. My sister received a call from this number a year ago with the same people claiming to be from PayPal (The callers are Indian). She spoke to a PayPal worker, who confirmed that this number is NOT PayPal’s number and that PayPal DO NOT contact their account holders via phone, email or even snail mail for any reason whatsoever. I was scammed by the same group of scammers
a few weeks ago. They disguised themselves as Norton, a computer antivirus company, and they took $315 from my bank account by hacking into my PayPal account. I contacted my bank immediately as soon as I was alerted to the withdrawal. I told the bank what happened and they reversed the transaction and I got my money back. Let me remind you all that I NEVER made any past purchases from Norton using PayPal. Two years ago I purchased a Norton product over the counter, using EFTPOS, from Harvey Norman. It was a 12 month subscription and I never renewed it when it expired which was a year ago. I believe the scammers got hold of my past Norton customer details through identity theft. Since I got my money back, the scammers tried again and sent my PayPal into the negative. I have also disputed this and it usually takes 10 business days for a PayPal dispute to be resolved. This ‘resolution’ occurred within minutes, ruling in the scammer’s favour and it was closed immediately. The dirty dogs rang me, harassed me and threatened me then told me I could resolve it at PayPal’s resolution centre. Well, I couldn’t because the dogs locked the case so I couldn’t access it again. So to those of you who think this is not a scam, you are gullible, naive and 100% wrong. PayPal are American and do not have a contact centre in India, which is where my call came from. Beware! The real PayPal DO NOT contact their account holders!

I have checked this out through PayPal’s website and PayPal have stated on their website that they never call or email their account holders for anything, including asking or demanding money, regardless of PayPal balance. They don’t make threats either. PayPal also do not have a call centre in India. They are based in the USA and their call centre is there.

This is my experience as well. They actually have access to my details! But they act like scammy third-world fraudsters.
I suspected they outsourced their collection agency to India, or they've got a massive data leak and no one at PayPal is doing anything about it.

This is a call from PayPals debt/overdue account department. I think it's legit, but PayPal use a crappy third-party set up with some bootleg Indian company to deal with their accounts. They're rude and idiotic to deal with, and in the past have called me between 8-16 times a day.
They demand personal ID.
But they only call when my account balance goes into the negative.
Just block them and sort out your account yourself.

Calling every day around the same time, not leaving a message. My phone tells me they have suspicious calling activity.

From other peoples' comments, they call you when you have a negative PayPal balance, but are strangely suspicious about it.

If you get this call, don't answer it, but check your PayPal Balance and see if it's negative.

For everyone who's reading this to know whether this number belongs to a scammer or not, it does not. It's truly Paypal. Even if you're negative by $50 or less, they are relentless and will keep calling your number until they are able to speak to you directly and discuss your negative balance and when/how you will repay it. Funny though, for a company worth tens of billions of dollars, they chase you for a negative balance so small? We're all going through hard times yet they can't cut us some slack, fu**ing putrid dogs

Called me claiming to be from Paypal. Knew my exact negative Paypal balance (I didn't know it was negative at the time however), and asked me to log in to check it.

Asked him for his email, name and employer ID just to waste his time a bit, wouldn't supply me with an email or full name got a bit defensive lol. After hanging up checked my account online to see it was exactly the amount he said it was. :-O

Called (the real) Paypal and they were able to remove all my cards and bank account that was linked to my Paypal account. Paypal can tell you if someone from the real Paypal has called you or if it has been referred to an outside collection agency (mine hadn't and no one from Paypal had called)

So if someone calls you claiming to be from Paypal and they want card details to settle your account over the phone - don't do it, even if you log into paypal and they know your balance. Call the real Paypal & let them know immediately (check the web address to make sure its a legit paypal site). I'm only adding a prepaid travel card to my paypal account from now on as having multiple cards and a bank account linked to the account is just getting too risky.

Legit number informing me of a negative balance. They had all my information including the amount in negative which was correct so I was not asked for any personal information. I thought it was a spam number and didn't answer at first.

It is a scam call. Keeps asking me for my account details. And it always has the same person to answer the phone. Interesting.
