Caller: said she was from Telstra- there was a child screaming in the background.

Said she was about to send me an email ( knew my email address ) regarding my mobile phone.
just didn't sound kosher.

Caller: Telstra helpdesk for people receiving unwanted calls

This was a legit Telstra person.
I'd lodged an online report less than an hour previously, to say that someone was spoofing my phone number, as I was getting a string of callers saying that they'd had missed calls from my number. The Telstra person calling had the details of my report, and offered to put in place a "filter" to stop this from happening.

Legit Telstra Call, IVR advising they had called

Caller: Spam

Message was left on our phone saying our number has been spammed. I rang back on an unused old phone number and it is a recorded message which plays the Telstra jingle then says they'll ring you back. Spam.

Says he from Telstra he knew my name

Caller: Telstra

Real person left message. Follow up to an outage experienced last month.

When I called back it plays a Telstra recorded message.

I have been receiving all sorts of scam ATO messages and calls. I also have had my number spoofed and people think I am ringing them. Today this was another.
