Got a call from a man with a strong Indian accent by the name of Rod Spencer claiming to be from Window's Service Provider to inform me they had detected a serious virus on my computer and he could show me whereabouts the virus was hiding. I was a bit reluctant to take any action and take up his assistance at that point and suggested that maybe I should seek the service of a local computer technician with which he replied that would work out a costly excercise and if I was interested he could provide me with an anti virus program for $120 Aus. which would last for six months. All a bit suspicious as phone number he gave me to ring was supposedly a Sydney (Aust.) number but the call seemed to be coming from overseas with a slight sattelite delay with a similar Indian accent chattering away in the background to another caller.

Windows service provider will not contact you with this issue. If they ring back, ask a few questions about how they found the virus and what program they use. A definite scam one thinks!
