Called me four time now.
2nd time there was just background noise like an office.
3rd time the fax tone again
4th time I did not answer.

Seems it will call, wait exactly 3 seconds, then hang up - whether the call is answered or not.
I can only assume it is a telemarketer.

Some sort of auto-dialer.
It called my mobile, upon answering got a brief fax/modem tone then hang-up.
Perhaps a form of missed-call marketing?

I provide money to WSPA and I also get a call from this number multiple times each day.
When I answer the number disconnects and when I call back the message is its just a charitable organisation.

I keep receiving calls (1 a day at least) for last 2 weeks. Same as above, when I answer call disconnects, when I call back, goes to message bank sanying they are a charity blah blah blah, I support various so not sure who this could be. Annoying and I want to contact someone to get them to stop.

I had a few missed calls from this number. Today I answered and it is WSPA.

Its from readers digest. When u enter a competion, sweepstakes,cash countdraw etc, u are unknowlung accepting there offer. They send you the offer being a recipe book in my case, and bill u via paper in mail. I did not pay now I have a default in my credit file. I could not send book back as no address to. Readers digest have 100 of related partners that ur details are sent out to. So yes u probably did donate to a charity, they will debit ur credit card or send u invoices through mail.

It's just a charity call, i spoke to a lovely person there and they said they are having some system errors. He was very smypathetic, orignally i didn't want to be called at all but after speaking with him i'm very happy to support the cause. I encourge everyone else to do the same!

This number is calling me day and night at least 3 times a day, I dont pick up unfamiliar numbers and though it very odd that they never leave a voicemail.
I wonder how much money they make from you when you pick up or call back. Shameful!

i just had a call from (02) 9119 4161, they hung up as soon as i answered. Much the same as other comments i called it back and was greeted with a voice recording reporting to call from a charitable organisation. I too am on the do not call register, and haveno clue what this is about

I called back and it said thank you for my support for charitable donation - I never take a receipt for donations and they called me on my work mobile which barely gets used and barely noone has

I just phoned this number back and the message said that they were calling on behalf of a charitable organisation to thank me for a recent donation.

I've had two calls from this number in the space of an hour today - these computerised auto-dials are such a pain! I'm expecting a call from Foxtel today or tomorrow, which is also an (02) number. I daren't answer it in case it is some marketing blighter so have to let it go to voicemail, which of course costs money. At least with a mobile, you get caller ID. I've stopped answering the phone at home too - if it's that important they'll leave a message, and friends know to SMS me nowadays.
