Just answered a call with no one on the other end from a very similar number (02) 9112 5722). I guess it's from the same place as (02) 9112 5710. (I'm a few hours north of Sydney).

I missed a call from this number yesterday just before 7pm.

They will probably ring back at another inconvenient time.

I've been in this situation before, and it's always been direct marketting calls that are follow up to junk mail that CBA have sent me a few weeks prior.

In all the time I have been a CBA customer I have NEVER received a call from or on behalf of CBA that has been for any purpose other than trying to sell a product to me (that I don't want).

The DNC register will not help this time because as I have an existing "relationship" with CBA they are entitled to call me (or outsource that task to someone else - which is what is happening here).

In the past, they have always gone away eventually - until next time the CBA is doing a marketting drive.

It seems that the best course of action might be to write to the CBA to tell them that I no longer have a phone contact number. I'll still receive junk mail in the post from them from time to time, but that's less of an inconvenience to me than the phone calls.

Update. I sent an email but it may have hit their spam box. I called (02) 8207 9000 and after introducing myself, asked to speak to their privacy officer. They asked why and to my reply, politely said I'd be better off talking to customer service to make sure it was removed. Customer service took my number and first name and said they'd remove it. No hard sell or attitude, they were very courteous from the customer service side.

I just received a call from this number too (02) 9112 5710 at 4.54pm in Sydney. It was Commonwealth Bank selling some life insurance crap. When I told them I was not interested they persisted to ask why and whether it was due to the pricing and I told them it's something I'm not interested in or have time for. They then hung up.

I've only had a few missed calls from this number previously, haven't been harrassed like others have. But I would like to put in a complaint to Commonwealth as well as I don't appreciate some random crappy call centre having my mobile number and the possibility of being harrassed by other call centres from India >:(

They have been calling me every 2-4 hours... sometimes on the exact same minute of the hour... I made the mistake of calling them back and got the "hosted contacted centre" message. I am with Optus. I don't give out my number to people I don't know so I wonder how they got my number. Grr!

Im getting these calls also. They hang up beofre I get a chance to answer but they somehow get through to my voicemail first. When I have managed to answer they hang up on me. I called it back from another phone and it said  "You have been contacted by a hosted contact centre service and may be contacted again in the future, thank you, goodbye".

It needs to stop
