Caller: marketing

I never answer calls from numbers I don't know and I suggest everyone to do the same.
This number never left a message which to me is a clear sign of
a) Not important or marketing of some kind of bullsh*t
b) A waste of time calling you to change electricity provider or internet etc
c) More sinister. Sometimes these cunning little hackers are trying to get a digital profile on your voice by recording you to aid in hacking your accounts etc in the future.
Remember, if it's important they WOULD leave a message or a number explaining how you can get in contact with them and what it was about.
Don't be a victim people!

Said they were some financial company. Hung up as soon as i heard those words. Foreign accent.

Had the exact same phone call today in 2024.

Caller: Said his name was Michael Tomkin from Telstra NBN

Claimed that I had an NBN upload problem. Was requesting that I download TeamViewer app so they could check my service. Really!

Caller: Female with accent

Claimed to be doing Pandemic research for World Economic Forum.

As soon as I questioned her an abrupt hang-up followed.

Global Economic Forum now... Hung up immediately

Caller: Scammer

Claimed to be doing research for Wall St Journal. Clearly wasn’t.

Caller: Caller said Yahoo Finance

Supposedly doing research on economic conditions in Australia and mentioned education. Said it wasn't a marketing call and would only take a couple of minutes. I replied I wasn't interested and hung up.

Said she was from Yahoo Finance company hung up

Caller: Google Finance

Foreign accent woman calling from Sydney number wanted to speak to me as she is from Google Finance. I explained that I’m a director at Westpac and asked why I would be interested in talking to her about Google Finance. She hung up on me!

Caller: Supposedly Yahoo Finance

Lady with accent said she was doing research on economic conditions in Aus.
