pretending to be ATO, a recorded message plays aksing you to call back in regards to tax avoidance !!

Caller: They said that they are pay pal

They say I made a purchase using pay pal and want to confirm that I placed an order. They asked me to call them back and either confirm or cancel the order. Of course I haven’t made any such orders they just want my details to scam me. I have blocked their number.

Think about it. The ATO, Telstra, Big banks etc. etc. are far too busy to make these calls, so these calls can't possibly genuine. QED.

Recorded message with woman's voice, somewhat disjointed, supposedly from Tax Department. SCAM.

This is the third call from this number.
It was early in the morning and I answered without checking the number.
There was an automated [female] voice declaring it was from the Tax Office.
I disconnected the call.

Reported this upsetting number to telstra. Initially started out as blocked number. 3 calls in one day so far. Not impressed. Maybe just me but I'm a bit paranoid that I was selected as an ongoing campaign against me from abusive ex. Just a thought if any else out there may feel targeted.

Scam. I don't have any income or tax debt! :P

Was instantly clear to be a scam since in victoria and number to be rang back was '02'.haha, but how do they want to make money with this?

as above. seems super dodgy. voice recorded message from ATO, warrant for my arrest, items returned to sender due to address issues... impossible. Please confirm this is a SCAM!

I just had a call from this number, which I didn't recognise.
I left it unanswered... now, I'm glad.

Just received a call from this number stating to be from the ATO saying they have sent mail to my address and I have been ignoring it, so there is a warrant out for my arrest and then they ask me to ring this number (02) 8607 8101.

also received this call, how stupid do they think I am????

Absolute scam. Do not ring back. Pathetic pre-recording. I doubt anybody will ever fall for this rubbish. How I would love to get my hands on the moron that is attempting this. Clearly "Jason O'Connor" is back from his grave. BEWARE PEOPLE!

Tired of getting this and similar messages. Isn't there some way for authorities to identify who the owner of this number is? Should charge them with using a carriage service to harass and intimidate!!!!

Recorded message pretending to come from ATO threatening arrest. Scam!

got a message, same as Marianne - reported it to the ATO.
They said the scammers use a local number to appear more credible. The local number automatically routes the call to an overseas number.

pre recorded message telling me I haven't paid my taxes and there is a warrant out for my arrest and to call the number provided to pay the account. Scam.
