They claimed to be fro the ATO and threatened me with jail for fraud!!
THIS IS A SCAM - CONFIRMED WITH ATO

They left a voicemail on my work phone for my boss! saying she would be under arrest etc.

Just received a message on my home phone from this number threatening me with imprisonment for tax fraud and welfare fraud. I don't even receive Centrelink payments. Didn't leave a name just the number by an Indian lady.

Yep, same issue. Officer Johnson from the ATO claiming that the CDPP and Centrelink were commencing legal
action for fraud and tax evasion. And, the customary 'have a nice day sign off'. Will not be calling back!

Claimed to be an officer from Commonwealth Department Public Prosecution saying there was legal action taken for tax evasion & welfare fraud. Didn't know my name and ended with 'have a nice day!' Seems legit

I received the same type of call, this time from an "Officer Wade". Interesting how "Officer Wade" had a thick Indian accent. He was claiming that I am being charged by the ATO for tax evasion and tax fraud between the years 2005 and 2013. Preposterous. I told him so, as I was using a reputable tax agent. Furthermore, I wouldn't be expecting a call, but a notice in writing in my mail! And thus, I was given that callback number. I hope "Officer Wade" sups on some expired curry tonight. What a parasitic jerk.

Just got a call from officer Johnson saying someone, anyone no name given was going to prison, funny we have defrauded Centrelink, when we don't have anything to do with them.

As per other entries, a person left a voicemail claiming to be from the ATO and we had committed fraud.....

I have rang the number back and it just hangs up every time!! this is a pretty sick scam so beware don't give these overseas idiots any information!

Danny Watson called said from ATO but they gave me the wrong first name. So I know it's a fraud. I'm not Rosemary. Called the local police and gave the number.

Scam call from "Danny Watson" pretending to be from the ATO.
If the ATO is contemplating legal action against you, they'll send you a letter. They won't leave a voicemail. In addition, the message used incorrect terminology eg "Commonwealth Court House" rather than "Federal Court".
