Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: DCI Adam Taylor

I received a phone call from this number. The caller identified themselves as DCI Adam Taylor from the Australian Federal Police / Cyber Crimes Division.

"Adam" stated that my details were recovered on a computer during an arrest. That my personal and financial details were on record, and as part of their duty was to contact those organisations to let them know my details had been breached.

He used the ReportCyber form to generate a one time password to my email address to indicate that he was serious (and this almost worked)

He asked me to identify and prioritise my financial institutions from highest to lowest and I identified three financial institutions that would be likely targets

He then gave me a case number to follow up, CRXXXXXXX

After I hung up I felt uneasy about the exchange and called the 1300 292 371 hotline number and spoke to someone and gave them the details, and they said it was definitely a scam, and to be wary of any calls purporting to be from my financial institutions over the next few days/weeks.
