You really had to call the ATO to confirm it was a scam?

I got this same ATO scam today 27/7/2016. Actually two calls from the same guy. I did not respond. Why can't Telstra block these numbers?

ATO Scam caller,

Jason OConnor needs to be found and the scammers shut down...

Today a message from Jason O Connor(sic) from A.T.O.rang the number (02) 8317 3328 asked to speak to Jason O Connor had a few words gave a false name asked how much I owed was told $2,367 I then told him had rang local police, nice answer from him it was get f--ked and then he hung up so beware and ask him for your tax file no.

Same here today Jason Connor. I feel sorry for the elderly or people who are at risk of falling for this scam. And surely telstra can stop these clowns!

Message left on my voicemail yesterday from bloke with Asian accent, purporting to be Jason O'Connor from ATO. If I didn't phone him on (02) 8317 3328, the Police would be visiting me the following day to arrest me for tax fraud. Mmmm, maybe I should put the kettle on so I can offer the cops a cuppa when they arrive :)

Got a call Today, Answering Machine picked it up, same thing there is a Warrant for an Arrest( but no names are mention to who the call is for) for Tax Fraud. The Name He gave was Jason O'Conner, with a very heavy Accent, Ha ha ha never heard of an Indi/Packie called that..I get calls from Indi/Packie Mongrals all the Time, Bloody frustrating....

His name is now Jason O'Connor. Threatened with warrant and being arrested from nearest police station. His call came through on caller ID as a private No. Perhaps Telstra needs to investigate as to how these people can obtain a private number and use it for scamming??????

Total scam! Been calling me for months. The ATO confirmed that this is a TOTAL SCAM! Just wish I could do something to stop these lowlifes!

I have received this call at least a half dozen times in the past week. Same message everyone else received.

Same as above, 2 messages left on home phone about ATO, tax avoidance, and police pick up.

Same taxation scam caller said his name was Jason O'Connor

Person claiming to be an ATO employee, leaves threats of arrest warrants, leaves this phone number. These messages are so frequent so poorly worded they cannot be believed.

Same as the above. Scam!

Called 4 times in 2 days, claiming ATO representative and the police are on their way to issue me with a warrant for my arrest.....scam!

Idiot with an accent struggling with English scamming about my tax evasion. I was going to be arrested. Gave his name as Jason O'Connor. What a tool?

Had the message today twice, saying that I was in for tax evasion and that a policeman was coming around to issue a warrant for an arrest - name of Indian sounding person was "Jason O'Conner" - Not a very convincing accent? - Scam guys - ATO always send out an official letter and a contact Number - if in doubt contact the ATO directly?

Had three calls from this number today all went to message. Same issue as all the other complaints, tax scam threatening an arrest warrant.
