Caller: Indian Man Asked me correctly if my full name was "xxxx xxxxx" I said yes, and they hung up, sounded like a call center. I'm a tradie and my name and number are all over the net. Doesn't worry me.

I answered and could head people talking in the background, like a call center, but nobody spoke. Hung up

Caller: Claiming to be IncNet? I had a call from this number today - a man with a very slight Indian accent asked if my business location was still at a certain address (which they rattled off in full) as they are updating their 'public database of businesses in Australia'. I asked who he was and where he was calling from and he said IncNet. I looked up IncNet and they are owned by Database Consultants Australia, and under their privacy policy it discusses IncNet saying it crawls the internet for information related to ABNs and then dumps it into a database which they then sell to third parties https://data.com.au/privacy-policy/. I asked how any business is on this database and how they got that business information to begin with, and the caller said 'I don't know - the database was set up a long time ago'. I said that my number is on a do not call list and any information they already have (which I did not confirm was correct or not) I have not consented to being published, nor have I consented to them holding this data, so they need to remove any traces of my number and any addresses they think are related to my business, me, or the ABN. Apparently, according to their website (which may or may not be legit) you can email removals @ incnet.com.au to get your information removed, but I suspect doing so might just give them more information they don't already have. So I am reporting this to the OAIC as a breach of privacy and suggest others do the same.

Caller: Indian Lady Clearly fishing for information for some sort of sketchy reason. Asking about the company's name and current address and if we had a different billing address. Then went on to ask about who still works there. Not sure where they are plucking their info from but they are almost 15 years outdated. There is also a lot of loud typing on keyboards going on in the background. Hung up on her, wasn't going to entertain it.

Caller: Non Australian Male This number called our business, also asking for confirmation of our address, this is public information so I did not think to not confirm it. They then asked if X was still a board of director, this person has not been one for quite some time. I advised so and suggested they look at our website, they confirmed the website and then hung up. Possible scam?

A lady called (possibly Chinese) asking if a name of a person was still a director of the company. I heard people in the background and being an (02) 8**** number, knew this wasn't going to be a call I wanted to engage in. They aren't, so I flatly replied, "no". She asked if the same named person had ever been a director of the company. I replied "yes, a long time ago". She said that was all she needed to know and hung up. 🤔
