I called back the number (02) 8307 5489 and reached vm that said I reached Salvation Army

Caller: Charity fundraiser for Fred Hollows Foundation

Read previous comments, called number and confirmed it’s a call centre doing charity fundraising for Fred Hollows. As one who has worked in a similar role they are most likely raising funds for numerous charities. It’s a really difficult job, we’re very appreciative of those who have donated previously (we voice our thanks rather than flatter donors), and if you’re unsure whether they’re a legitimate call you can ask them for confirmation or speak with their head office. Charities are trying so hard to help those less fortunate and this is another reason it’s so difficult to raise funds, being up against scammers and people who are outright rude when you’re just trying to help people. If you’re in a difficult financial situation yourself just politely say so, wish the caller a pleasant day and hang up :-)

had a few (02) 8307 5489 calls from Sydney. I don't answer who I don't know. So googled the number and is listed as a scam call. will now block the number.

This number has been ringing incessantly over the last few weeks. Doesn't leave a message, so I'm not answering. Now that I've seen the feedback here, I'll go ahead and block the number - even though I do support some charities.

Must be a charity call centre as claimed to be from the Fred Hollows foundation. Or maybe just a scam

Asking for donations for the Salvos. Won't take cash or a cheque in the mail. Only wants Debit card or FPOS. Sorry but I don't trust any incoming phone caller that I don't personally know.

Did the Fred Hollows fund raiser last year and now they keep calling, got over the fund raiser when they started calling every week asking you to raise more money.

One of many unknown numbers that leaves no message. Likely a scam or telemarketer. Blocked.

This charity woman has called me 5 times in the last fortnight, each time I listened to her speil and finally today I said NO. DO NOT CALL AGAIN!

Unsolicited call. Softly spoken woman asking for donations for charity. Only takes visa, fpos or debit cards. In reality she could be a fake.

Woman phoning on behalf of a group of charities. How could one know exactly where your donation ends up? Or even if a charity actually receives it. No thanks.
