tried to get info from me claiming to be AGL sounded legit with putting me on hold. Just called the real AGL number on google and they confirmed its a scam phone number!!

Pretended to be AGL. Sounded realistic as they put you on hold. Wanted your name to match your number. Pretended to look into their records. Wanted your address. Told me our account is in a different name, which it is. Wanted that other name and to speak to him. Said they had a plan for a better deal if we connected gas with them. Sounded very realistic. But my gas is not yet connected, so can't do. I rang AGL who confirmed this is a scam.

Number called me, received a recording "Our agfents are pretty busy at this time", so I did them a favour and hung up. How Rude, call me and want to put me on hold, NO

5 missed calls in 24 hours, no voicemail. Blocked.

I received two calls yesterday during work, and when I tried to call back, I couldn't hold the line long enough and hung up. I just missed the call again just now, so called back. It was just some guy (I didn't catch his name clearly) saying that I had good electricity usage and if I needed gas. I've mentioned several times in the past 8 months of living in this property with other callers that this property didn't have gas. He mentioned how good my electricity usage was and that they'd send through details. This could've been an email. Because of the amount of calls, I thought there was an issue with my account and wasted time trying to call back. If he didn't say he'd send through deals via email, I'd have asked him to anyway. I never even received the email, so I'm not even sure if this is a legitimate number.

It appears there is a consensus that this an Indian call center trying to up sell AGL products to likely candidates. AGL has proved to me that they are money hungry grubs who offer great deals to get you in then break them no matter how prompt you are with your payments. pity the caller didn't call when I was free they would have got a piece of my mind. Avoid AGL at all costs they aren't worth the trouble.
