Scam Watch told me to block international calls. That will put a stop to the calls coming from India.

1 July 2011 at night, Indian lady called about computer viruses, I kept her and then her supervisor going for a full 28 minutes pretending I knew nothing about computers (I am a tech) and that it was my sister's computer. They BSed on about viruses, etc, tried to get me to connect to a web site to remote access.

I pretended to get error messages until finally telling the supervisor that Nortons had come up with a message, "what message?" he asked, I said "The dialog box on Nortons says An @-hole scammer trying to steal your money has been detected and you have had heaps of fun wasting his time" .......CLICK. Hopefully I kept Ranjit off other poor suckers for a while.

Look up Bob and Tom, Telemarketers Nightmare, an audio file of Tom Mabe having fun with a real telemarketer call.

I have received numerous calls from this number as well as some from a number with-held but displays overseas. Sounds like the same operator. Calls started before 7am on a sunday and then kept going every hour!! woke my son up from his morning sleep. i wasnt happy or very polite when i answered the first time for the ovrseas number and the first one for the 02.. number. I just ignored the rest and it eventually stopped.

I've had calls from this number a few times too. Always comes up on my caller ID but I've never been home to answer it. Next time I get it I will call Telstra to block it.

Yep, same call, noted missed calls from (02) 8091 0006 over last few weeks, finally picked up. dodgy dodgy dodgy. Said from Computer Technician needed to fix a warning on my computer and I had to turn it on, and click on window for them. I was very evasive and kept saying tell me more. Then I said computer currently not available, and they hung up. Lovely Indian Accent. The ACCC has info on this scam and what they do. Advise hang up. Google ACCC computer for more.

Sample complaints we have found for (02) 8091 0006

Carol Pemberton

I have had four (4) phone calls from this number today.  The first showed 'overseas' as sender and it was Isabella.  I told her I wan't interested and next time the caller showed this number and it was the same woman Isabella.  Next, the same number called and it was a man and I lost my cool.  Now the same number has called again and I wrote it down and they hung up before I answered.  What can I do? They all start off saying that they are calling about an existing Telstra line.

BB

Usually comes up as a private or overseas number, same spiel about computer virus, microsoft and some indian person. Told them it was a scam and hung up, about the 9th time, I may have sworn down the line and they still call. They use your surname but never give their name. How do we stop these kind of calls? Very annoyed and disgusted that they would keep trying over and over.

Milly

Had a call today, and an Indian guy asked me if I was happy with my bank. When I said yes he asked which one, then he called me by the wrong name. When he asked for my full name I got suspicious and hung up.

No Computer

Always seems to be about my computer! Whenever they call us I simply tell them I don't have a computer.. They soon get the message, English seems to be a second language to them. .. Getting sick of these calls. And being on DO NOT CALL list seems to not work!! Continually reporting numbers that try scamming me!

Rose

I received a call from this number from and Asian sounding lady. She wanrted to tell me that I have a trojan on my computer. This is the second time I have received a call like this. They wanted me to allow them remote access to my computer last time so I just hung up on her when she started along the same path again.

mumof2

this number and man keeps calling and harrassing my family
