Caller: ACC LAWYERS PTY. LTD. (?)

I received a call today (January 6th, 2025, at 1:41 PM, lasting 17 minutes) regarding a supposed "workplace accident." The caller did not know my name but mentioned someone I knew. They claimed to be from "Compensation Claims Lawyers" and were persistent. After some back-and-forth, I managed to ask for their ABN, which they provided as:

AUSTRALIAN COLLISION AND COMPENSATION LAWYERS - ABN: 35 610 428 003.

When I told them that I don’t work, they then asked if I or anyone I know had been in a motor vehicle accident in the last two weeks.

I’m unsure how they obtained my number, especially since it’s listed on the Do Not Call Registry. When I asked if they had purchased a mailing list, they denied it.

The call felt suspicious, so I contacted my workplace to inform them. They were surprised and concerned about a potential data breach.
