Caller: Jeremy Smith (the scammer mentioned that it's his name) A scammer using the name Jeremy Smith called my mother from (02) 8015 6422/">(02) 8015 6422, claiming she had $75,000 worth of Bitcoin and needed to take action. He insisted on speaking only with her and resisted my involvement—classic manipulation tactic.
🔍 Red Flags:
Claimed unreachable callback number (calls to (02) 8015 6422 drop immediately)
Refused to speak with family or verify identity
Pressured her to act quickly and privately
Invented a large crypto balance to bait interest
Thanks to my mom’s caution and my immediate recognition of the scam, she didn’t proceed. No legitimate financial institution or crypto platform will cold-call you with claims of hidden assets.
✅ What to do if you receive a similar call:
Do not share any personal or financial information
Hang up immediately
Report the number to Scamwatch and your telco provider
Warn family and friends—especially older relatives who may be targeted
📵 This number has been flagged on multiple scam reporting sites as a crypto scam and unreachable line.
