'Damian' rang me saying he was Telstra Faults and that my computer was causing network problems that were not visible to me but would soon cause a major fault to my service. He asked me to access my internet and to operate Windows + R which I believe gives him remote access to my computer. I said no way. To confirm his credentials I asked for a number to call back. He gave the above number, but I didn't call back, suspecting a scam. But he rang back an hour later and I then asked him if he had details of my account. Pause. 'Of course.' Then who am I? I asked. After a long pause he gave me a name. Wrong! I then hung up. Be aware!

Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: Mike Williams (with an Indian accent), then his boss Steven Wilson (also an Indian accent)

Claimed to be Telstra. Told me someone had hacked into my email/internet and it was therefore running slowly. Even gave me a complaint number.

Call dropped out a couple of times.

Wanted remote access to my computer to fix the problem. These guys sounded pretty convincing but a lot of noise in the background.

I asked to talk to his manager and got a Russian sounding guy on the phone.

He was pretty rude - so I reciprocated in kind and then hung up.

I believe it's a scam

Same situation as above. Today 21st February. I said I would ring back and this was the number provided. Sounded like he was in a room full of people. Call Centre?
