Overit!
Posted on October 6, 2016 Caller type: Scam Location: Australia
I just had yet another call from this number. I decided to see how long and completely unreasonable I could be and still keep them on the phone. When they told me they were calling about an accident involving someone on my number I acted hysterical and kept asking them if my family were dead or injured and could they tell me who it was. Which hospital were they taken to? Are they going to live? I begged and begged the guy to tell me that they were ok.
When he finally explained that it wasn't today but he wanted to talk about compensation I then acted hysterical about him wanting money from me because you know my cat peed on carpet, my flowers got hailed on and I burnt my toast and now you want me to pay compensation - this was the worst day ever! So patient as always he still tries to explain that he wants to help me get compensation. What for? I ask - for the accident and the injury he said and so I went back to hysteria about someone in my family was dying and could he help me find out which one and where they were.
It was so funny when he started yelling at me "Maam, just shut up! Just shut up, maam. You are wasting MY time!" I laughed and told him I knew he was a scam and perhaps it was time to get a job that didn't involve harming people. Anyway lets hope that meant there were just a few less other people who got bothered by him today.

Spoke to an Indian lady who claims to be from the Accident Investigation Unit (Accident/Injury helpline). She asked if I was involved in a motor vehicle in the last 12 months. I said my husband was and took down her details. She said her name is Max. She needs our car rego and the other party's rego. She says we are entitled to claim compensation. She will send the paperwork & will send a cheque. Sounds too weird & it is a scam!!

Yes it is a scam. I asked straight out if he was telemarketing. He seemed worried and said "Oh, no" then hung up.

Just called my WORK phone, asked if I was in an accident in the last 2 years. I said no. She asked if she could please speak with the person who was. I said "Give me a name of the person in the accident and I'll happily transfer you". She then said "Oh I don't know their name" So I just laughed and said "Okay, so you want to speak with someone who was in an accident regarding compensation but you have no idea what their name is?" This stupid conversation went on for ages. Do not give them any information, scam scam scam. They will not give up.

Yes, I received yet another (about 6 to date) phone call from the "Accident Help Line". The incoming caller ID said "Overseas Private". Acknowledging that I was the owner of the premises, didn't give any further information but asked if I could ring her (Zara) back. I asked where she was ring from - she said Sydney and quoted this phone number. Of course, there was no doubt that this is a scam. I do find it amazing that they continue to ring repeatedly with the same rubbish, even after I've managed to abuse, frustrate threaten and pretend to work for the Federal Police Fraud squad.
What I do now is to play along - get a phone number and report it to scam watch. Surely by now everyone in the country must be wise to their scams?

this number won't stop harassing me or stop calling - I have spoken to 3 different Indian people from a call centre - Accident Help Line - saying they are ringing back about the accident & that someone from this number called them, when I ask for the name of the person that called their Help Line as this is a business phone number, they are unable to give one. So far, 25 calls in 1 hour - wish I could sue them for harassment!
